At
ASHK, we are keen on improving members’ actuarial skills and knowledge about
emerging risks. Given the aging society
and many social-economic uncertainties, mental health is becoming a more
prevalent issue for affected individuals, families, employers, medical
providers, and insurers. At the same
time, there has been much progress in our understanding of mental conditions
and the medical treatment of difficult symptoms. The medical profession is progressing from
hospital-based treatment to a broad range of tools such as medication outside hospital
settings. How can insurance address
mental health? What is the scope of
risks that can be properly identified, assessed, and priced for insurance coverage?
The ASHK Health Committee is delighted to invite Dr. Karneen Tam
and Dr. Dipali Jawalkar from RGA Reinsurance Company to share with us the
latest insights into mental health. The
presentation will cover the following three aspects:
- Overview of
psychiatric conditions in Asia Pacific: classification, diagnoses, disease
burden and disease management challenges
- Insurance product
trend and latest news in Asia and around the world
- Risk assessment and
product design considerations for mental health
